Climax T2 Vostok is a 4-part comic book series that tells the story of Leïa and Loïc, two former colleagues of a geological survey agency whose finances are in a mess due to the dangerousness of the gamma rays used. When Loïc accepts a mission to study an ice layer protecting the largest freshwater reserve in Antarctica, he uses a prototype probe whose gamma rays have been softened. But when Leïa is found unconscious, Loïc investigates for her while asking for her help in deciphering the scientific data collected.

Critique de Vostok

The exposition episode of Climax T2 Vostok is somewhat implausible, but the plot gains consistency when the story focuses on the reserve of scientific knowledge that Antarctica holds. The scriptwriters skillfully manage to link scientific parameters and suspense, creating a winning alloy. However, the artwork by Luc Brahy is increasingly impersonal, even though it is perfectly suited to the eco-thriller genre depicting beautifully the landscapes of Antarctica. Nevertheless, we look forward to the next two volumes to learn more about the characters' motivations and scientific approaches.
