Description de 1940-1960
Wake up America T1 1940-1960 is the first part of a graphic novel trilogy paying tribute to John Lewis' political fight for equality between blacks and whites in the USA. The story is autobiographical and follows a chronological rhythm from the late 40s until May 1960. The book presents a didactic and austere but not boring argument.Critique de 1940-1960
Wake up America T1 1940-1960 appears to be a didactic historical graphic novel. While it is true that the argument can be austere and frequently recitative, this sobriety is justified to honour a hard-won but challenging campaign that must be recalled. Nate Powell's semi-realistic black and white drawings and layout add a powerful symbolism to the work. Without much pace or humour, this first part of the trilogy offers a solid base for those who want to grasp the struggle for civil rights in the USA.8Note générale
