Description de Johnny 23
Johnny 23 is a graphic novel that tells the story of a young boy who wakes up in a strange and unknown environment after suffering a head injury. Charles Burns, the author of the novel, has disrupted the original narrative structure to give an alternative interpretation, complemented by impressive black and white drawings. The dialogues in the story have been replaced by an unknown alphabet, adding to the enigmatic nature of the book. The novel is limited to 1700 copies, with the first 500 copies having an exclusive color serigraphy.Critique de Johnny 23
Johnny 23 is a complex read that is only recommended for hardcore fans of Charles Burns. The visuals are extremely impressive and well-executed, however, they do not entirely compensate for the obscure nature of the story. While the alternative narrative structure is interesting, the complete absence of dialogue makes it difficult for readers to immerse themselves in the story. Furthermore, the square and softcover format of the graphic novel gives the impression of a cheap bootleg or unauthorized copy of the original work. Overall, we recommend this novel only to the most knowledgeable and dedicated fans of Charles Burns.9Note générale
