Description de Cinema Purgatorio T1

Cinema Purgatorio is an anthology comic book series published by Panini Comics. The first volume comprises five different stories, each exploring unique themes related to horror, science-fiction, and fantasy. At the center of the tales stands a mysterious cinema that every night presents strange and unusual movies. The stories vary in their settings and characters, ranging from an ambulancier treating monsters in a post-apocalyptic New York to a gigantic one-on-one monster brawl.

Critique de Cinema Purgatorio T1

With Cinema Purgatorio, Alan Moore and other prominent artists teamed up to explore and test new narrative techniques and storytelling approaches. The result is an exciting and unusual program that, although inconsistent in quality, offers a fascinating glimpse into the potential and versatility of the comic book format. Some stories, such as Code Pru and The Vast, are engaging and well-illustrated, with intriguing stories that captivate the reader's imagination. Code Pru follows a brave paramedic, desperately trying to survive and save lives in a city overrun by monsters, while The Vast immerses the reader into a thrilling world of titanic combats between monsters, making the most of the comic book format's visual power. Other tales, however, such as Cinema Purgatorio and Modded, fail to deliver the same level of suspense and excitement. Cinema Purgatorio, in particular, suffers from unclear storytelling, though it manages to end on a more satisfying note. Modded, where a post-apocalyptic universe inspired by Pokemon is imagined, is intriguing but ultimately fails to captivate or explore its premise fully. Overall, Cinema Purgatorio's first volume is an innovative and avant-garde comic book that, while not without flaws, is a must-read for fans of the genre and those looking for boundary-pushing storytelling. The comic offers a unique insight into the artistic potential of comics and the possibilities for experimentation within the medium.
