Description de But I like it

But I Like It is a graphic novel by acclaimed cartoonist Joe Sacco, who is well-known for his journalistic work. It recounts his experience touring Europe with the Miracle Workers band in 1988. He joined the tour to create a comic book about it and sell t-shirts during the concerts. However, the band members proved to be generally insensitive to his presence and quite selfish. The album concludes with posters made for concerts, accompanied by brief comments from the author.

Critique de But I like it

While not too harsh, it must be acknowledged that But I Like It is not one of Joe Sacco's best works. Although the comic book deals with an interesting subject - the touring experience with a rock band - most of the band members are unpleasant to Joe, leaving him with only scraps of their rockstar life. Sacco's dark and disillusioned outlook paints an unflattering portrait of this world and its players. Nevertheless, the series of posters compiled at the end of the book is a real success and illustrates, through different styles and designs, the graphic evolution of the author. In conclusion, this graphic novel is best left to diehard fans of Joe Sacco.
